Teaching & Learning
All units are delivered using a diverse range of teaching and learning methods that support independent student learning. These include informal lectures, online teaching materials, and research activities. Learners are encouraged to engage with learning through discussions, role-plays, feedback team presentations, and Q and A sessions and educational tours.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed using center devised Written Assignments, Portfolio Building, Self and Peer Assessments, as well as Presentations, including Group Presentations.
The overall grade for the qualification is a ‘pass.’ The learner must achieve all the required units as indicated in the specified qualification structure.

Entry Requirements
Students who wish to undertake the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training programme should have:

Teaching Practice
Teaching practice is integral to the entire programme, and through this, students will demonstrate their own understanding of the principles of teaching and learning. Through the teaching practice, trainee teachers will demonstrate their ability to plan and deliver lessons and assess their students.
Trainee teachers will have to evidence 100 teaching practice hours. They will be observed for a minimum of eight hours over a minimum of eight occasions where mentors or tutors will provide constructive feedback to further their development as teachers.

Progression Routes on Completion
This Diploma qualification in the QCF is recognised as equivalent to the Certificate of Education qualifications in the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ). Learners who have achieved the Pearson BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) (QCF) can progress to further studies in education, such as the Pearson Edexcel Level 7 Diploma in Assessment Management (QCF).
Learners who achieve the Pearson BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (QCF) and who are progressing to higher education accredited qualifications at Level 6 or above can have their Level 5 credit recognised in line with the higher education institution’s arrangements for the recognition of prior learning.
Tuition Fee
The tuition fee for the academic year 2021/2022 is £7499. For the academic year 2022/2023, the tuition fee will increase by inflation to £7,724 and will apply to both the new and the continuing MRC students.
