What is an HND course?
The Higher National Diploma (HND) course is a two-year vocational qualification provided by institutions offering higher education in the UK. The Pearson BTEC HNDs provide the essential skills for a range of sectors at Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) level 4 and level 5. Completing any of the level 4 and 5 qualifications will open the door to the next level of higher education at a UK university. The HND course focuses on ‘learning by doing’ and is designed to enable the student to develop essential work skills.
HND Diploma Level 5 is equivalent to the second year of a university degree program, and – while the hands-on skills gained from an HND can head directly to the workplace – it also can be used as a stepping-stone to a full degree.
On completion of an HND course, you can access the final year of a British university degree course, or directly enter the job market. The HND qualifications are professional courses that get you prepared for the competitive job market.
Why is an HND course worth considering as a career choice?
The Higher National Diploma (HND) qualification offers a great deal of benefits making it an attractive and rewarding option for students. As a vocational course it will provide you with an opportunity to work towards a career in your chosen profession, or /and upon completion, entry on to the third-year at a UK University.
