It is a day that raises awareness of bias (not that we were all in the first place) and helps to bring us together to commemorate all women.
The overall mission of IWD remains the same each year: build workplaces in which women can thrive and improve equality for women in tech, specifically. IWD also sets out to forge women’s empowerment worldwide and of course, celebrate the women that are forging change. Another mission is to empower women’s own choices in health.
Lastly, IWD also seeks to increase the visibility of women, especially underrepresented women, such as minorities in certain career fields (i.e. tech).
IWD focuses on the cultural, political, and socio-economic achievements of women around the world. This year’s theme was #breakthebias. This includes bias within the working world, within our homes and communities, within politics and film and sport and many other fields.
This year, IDW is actively challenging YOU to call out bias, reflect on your own biases (deliberate or unintentional) and seek out ways in which you can make a difference.
Here at Mont Rose College, we’d like to take the time to show appreciation for each and every woman associated with MRC. From our Dean of Studies to our Director of Finance to our Head of Hospitality and many members of our Academic and Administration teams and of course, many of our MRC students.
A big shout out to all the women that make Mont Rose College the institution what it is, and a sincere request for you all to keep on going, dismantling barriers, progressing forward, and ultimately, #breakingthebias!
